Open Gold Walking Expeditions

Our Open Gold Walking Expeditions are a great way of doing your DofE Expedition in some of the UK’s scenic National Parks. Training and Practice Expeditions take place in the Peak District (Dark Peaks), with Qualifying Expeditions in either the Yorkshire Dales or Lake District.

Training & Practice Expedition

£240.00 pp (inc. VAT)

  • 5-days covering all aspects of the DofE Common Training Framework including advanced Navigation in remote country, overnight camps and Practice Expedition.

  • Training & supervision by our team of qualified Expedition Leaders.

2020/2021 Dates

These expeditions are confirmed to be going ahead:

Wed 21 - Sun 25 October 2020: Yorkshire Dales (places available for existing small teams only)

Sat 24 - Wed 28 October 2020: Peak District (places available for existing small teams only)

Tues 6 - Sat 10 April 2021: Peak District (suitable for individual participants or small teams)

Qualifying Expedition

£276.00 pp (inc. VAT)

  • 5-days including a pre-expedition preparation day followed by your Qualifying Expedition over 4-days and 3-nights.

  • Supervision and assessment by our team of qualified Expedition Leaders & Assessors.

  • Assessor Report uploaded onto eDofE.

2020/2021 Dates

Mon 5 - Fri 9 April 2021: Yorkshire Dales (suitable for individual participants or small teams)

Also included as standard:

  • Online Factsheets including kit lists, menu ideas and other key information.

  • Camp site fees.

  • Inclusive use of our Group Equipment - tents, stoves, maps, map cases and group first-aid kits.

  • Includes all fuel (230g gas cylinders compatible with our Trangia stoves).

  • Joining Instructions prior to each event.

  • Public Liability Insurance (£10million), AALA and AAP Licences.

  • Expedition On-Call Support – dedicated “home contact” support during expeditions.

COVID-19 Procedures

All our expeditions will comply with COVID-19 safe procedures including:

  • A COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire will be sent to all attendees (participants and leaders) prior to attending.

  • Restricting the numbers on each expedition to comply with current Government social distancing rules.

  • All participants must bring their own hand sanitiser and face coverings. There will also be a supply of these available on the expedition.

  • Participants will be issued with their own tent, stove and fuel for the duration of the expedition. Participants will not share group equipment or food.

  • Campsites will be disinfecting and cleaning communal areas (toilets and washing-up areas) regularly and all users must follow the campsite rules.

  • Expedition dates set to avoid Fridays and Saturdays which are likely to be busier than other days.

DofE Expedition Information

All our DofE training is based on the DofE's Common Training Framework at each level. Canoeing Training also incorporates the Paddle Skills Training.

All our expeditions are subject to the DofE's 20 Expedition Conditions.
