We offer a 10-day programme comprising of:
1 day in-school Expedition Preparation & Planning Workshop.
1 day non-residential Paddle Skills Training
3 day Training & Practice Expedition (including 2 overnight camps)
5 days Qualifying Expedition (travel & prep day plus 4-day Qualifying Expedition)
We also offer a more adventureous "Scottish Canoe" programme traversing the Caledonian Canal from Fort William to Inverness passing through Loch Ness.

At Gold level the Paddle Skills training day is usually non-residential and held at a venue local to the school. This allows participants to sort out any wet clothing from the capsize & rescue training before starting the Practice expedition.

Looking for something a bit more challenging? Our 6-day Scottish Gold Canoeing Qualifying Expedition provides a more adventurous challenge along the Caledonian Canal from Fort William to Inverness, including through the stunning Loch Ness (watch out for Nessie!):
Day 1: Travel & Preparation Day - Arrive afternoon before expedition for pre-expedition checks, refresher training & overnight camp.
Day 2: Open Water Training - Training on Loch Linnhe to develop skills and confidence in open water.
Day 3 - 6: Qualifying Expedition.
4-days, 3-nights including overnight camps along Caledonian Canal from Fort William to Inverness. Supervised by our team of qualified & friendly leaders. Achieve Team Goal. Review & debrief at end of expedition with Assessor. Personalised Assessor Report uploaded to eDofE.
Day 6 (optional extra) : Stay overnight after your expedition and enjoy some R&R in Inverness, returning home the next day refreshed.

Bunkhouse accommodation can also be arranged for non-expedition days, especially if the expedition takes place at Easter or in the Autumn when weather conditions and overnight temperatures can be cold and wintry. Please note that separate cost applies to cover the cost of the bunkhouse.
