After carrying out a Primary Survey a casualty should be put in the Recovery Position if they are unresponsive, breathing normally and have no major obvious injuries to help preserve their airway.
If someone in your team becomes unresponsive or you come across someone who is unresponsive it's important to get help on the way as soon as possible by calling 999 and your Supervisor.
A member of your team can make these calls whilst others work to look after the casualty.
Once someone is in the recovery position they must be monitored continuously for any change in their condition, particularly their breathing.
If they stop breathing you should roll them onto their back and start CPR.
If not already done so, make sure you call 999 as soon as possible.
Make sure you keep them warm & dry whilst waiting for help to arrive.
