Turn valve on towards + sign.
Use a long-handled lighter to light the burner.
Using the pan handle, place a pan of water onto the stove to boil.
Using the pan handle, place the lid over the pan to improve efficiency.
Safety Tips
Be confident and treat the lighting of your stove with respect.
Do not light the stove until you have everything you need.
Ensure you have put water or food in the pan you wish to use.
Share meals and water to save time and fuel.
Take the top off the gas cylinder and keep it safe. This stops dirt getting into the valve.
Check the regulator knob at the end of the gas hose is turned off.
Connect the gas cylinder to the hose by positioning the valve on top of the cylinder screw thread and turning anti-clockwise.
For new cylinders, there will be a release of liquid gas.
This is normal. Keep quickly turning until the cylinder is secure.
To turn on, twist the regulator and then light the gas burner.
TIP: Use a long-handled lighter for greater safety when lighting.
Never put an empty pan on top of the lit stove as it will burn a hole in the pan.
To switch off, turn the regulator to the off position.
Care of Kit
Always use the pan handle – the pans get hot and you will burn your hands if you don’t.
Let the stove cool down before washing & packing away.
Always wash your used pans after each meal to prevent food poisoning and insects.
Pack away your Trangia and store it inside the porch of your tent once it has cooled.
Your Supervisor will inspect your Trangia before packing away in the morning. Make sure you have all the parts of your Trangia (especially the handle & burner bag) and that they are all clean.
